  1. I think your portfolio is a great start as a tool to impress potential employers. There are a few grammar errors and formatting that can be improved but if you are in the same BIS 402 class that I am I am guessing it is a draft since they are not due until friday. I really enjoyed how you made the portfolio very personal. It will really let potential employers get to know you on a different level then the other applicants. I enjoyed the quotes you included in your site as well. I hope that you update this as your goals and accomplishments change and grow, it is a great tool to keep for potential employers and is something that will help you stand out from the crowd.

  2. Hi Rachel,
Who do you and Kristina have for 402? I would transform this portfolio into a professional portfolio that you can use when applying for positions. Also, your resume could use some work. Take off HS, take off U of A. Spell out Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies and list your concentrations. List your grad date, not dates attended. Also, write action statements for your past positions and put your transferable skills as a separate document. Did your instructor ask you to write your resume this way?? I ask because Kristina's is like this too and its not really the best format. I just want you to have a resume that helps you to get a job! 3. Rachel,
Your portfolio is great! I definitely think that showing this to a potential employer would give you a step up from other interviewers! I also like the idea of including a quote on your home page. I may have to add one to my homepage :) I would recommend adding some context to your concentrations like why you chose those two areas of study. I really like your internship page! You have done a great job explaining your role as an intern and what you have gained from it! After a few simple touches, this portfolio would be very impressive to any employer.

  4. Rachel,

I enjoyed viewing your portfolio. The quotes and layout were very well done and it caught my eye. I did notice grammer errors and editing errors but that is an easy fix. Your expereince will lead you into a great future. I few changes I would make is to add more "meat" to your resume. For me personally bullett points are okay as "knive sharping" but it could sound better as "Sharped over 30 knived daily for customers" Just an idea. Other wise, good job!

  5. Hey!

The portfolio is a great idea. You seem very creative and I like your creative way of standing out. I agree that you could easily transform this into a professional portfolio that you can use for jobs. A lot of places are looking at a ton of resumes so they may not take the time to look at your page, but if they did it would help you stand out. That being said your resume could showcase you so much better. It seems you are doing some really great things and your formatting and wording could really help you show that. You want your resume to be the spokesperson for you before people get to meet you. Good luck to you in your future!

  6. Rachel,

Your online portfolio is great! That's really nice they had you make something like that up for your BIS class. It looks as if you've already had some good experience under your belt. That will be great for once you start applying for jobs and careers. Your internship at Future for Kids looks amazing! I was actually looking into that as an option for mine, and was very interested in it. How do you like it? I love kids, so that is great that you can work with at risk children and try to better their lives. The event planning and coordinating must be fun. I've always been interested in doing that type of stuff, and being able to help kids at the same time would be a great experience. Good for you and good luck with everything!
